?!?!?!?!?

You can get some really beautiful images using direct, on-camera flash (if you know how to use it right). Don't discount ANY tool that you can use to help make a near-perfect picture.

Everything came in today, minus one wireless receiver which was backordered. The light stands are really heavy duty, considering they were only $49 for the pair. The vivitar flashes sit a little bit high in the umbrella due to how you have to mount them on top of the receivers. I'm going to see if i can find a way to connect them with a cord rather than sitting in the hotshoe. The umbrella is awesome, and actually custom made for Midwest Photo, so you cant get it anywhere else. Its a westcott. Very good brand. the umbrella swivels are perfect.

The cactus v4 transmitter/receiver set are so far working great! no misfires or anything, but they are right next to each other so they SHOULDNT misfire.

The vivitar flashes are great. I just set them to 1/16 power and shoot away. So far, i have been my only subject, and ive been shooting with a 50mm at arms length, so... im just getting a full face shot. My wife is in the middle of cutting a clients hair, so as soon as shes done shes coming in here and being my test bait for a little while!

I really wish that other receiver would hurry up and get here though. Its awefully hard having everything set up on a lightstand waiting to go, but no juice to trigger it! Should be around the middle of next week i think before it gets here. They had to airmail it from wherever-the-hell they are made. Probably china.

Overall, very happy so far! Cant wait to get it all up and going. For now, I'll have to just use my reflector to try to fill in the other side, or go for some dramatic one light shots.

Quick edit: I know that westcott umbrellas are all over the place, i just mean this particular model was custom made for Mpex. Apparently David Hobby swears by them.
