Sekonic L-358 and Radiopopper Jrx - 11-17-2009, 12:54 PM

All,

I am in the midst of a change regarding my wireless triggers. I have both the Radiopopper Px and the Jrx. I sold off my PW Flex TT5 and was keeping a pair of Plus II's to trigger my Sekonic L-358. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have successfully triggered the Sekonic meter with the Jrx.

I connected the transmitter to the corded output on the Sekonic. Set the meter for the Corded mode and it worked like a champ. The only downside would be if you only have 1 transmitter, you will have to remove it from the camera, meter, and then replace it. Best scenario would be to have an extra transmitter.

Here is a link to a Flikr page with a picture:

Enjoy!

the 308s has a similar output pc port on it, and with every transmitter I have come across, I can attach to them and trigger. I am currently using the same sort of triggering attachment to a cybersync set. You do however lose the ability to trigger in groups with this set up.

Thanks Greg. That's the first verified explanation I've read that this actually works. Good to know!

Michael - just to clarify. That is not my Flikr page. I just found it using a Google search.

The Radiopopper Jrx can be ordered via their Store website. Here is a link:

Greg, thanks for this thread.

This setup is perfect for me. I have an extra Transmitter (originally bought for my second camera), which I can use to trigger the light meter.

Not sure about other light meters, but on the Sekonic L-358 , there's a Auto-reset cordless flash mode

You set the ISO, Shuttle speed, press the measure button , and the the meter will have 90 secondns to read the light from the flash (section 2-2, page 19). So you can run back and hit the tranx trigger on the camera .

Of course if you dont want to run back and forth, a second transmitter is great.

There's also a wireless module for the 358 that you can get for like 40 bucks, no need to run back :)

But doesn't that work just with the Pocket Wizards? Hence, the workaround featured here. Thanks for the info - until there is a wireless module for RP, I see a second JrX transmitter in my future.
