I had the same question, Don. I had to do a little digging around on the Photogenic website to find the Solair line. I find it odd that they would have three tiers. I think the Solair must be entry level, Studio Max serious amature and Powerlight the Professional.

Hate to hear someone had a bad experience with anything Photogenic makes. I've liked and depended on their equipment going back to the AA-01 power packs. I've got a couple of Powerlights and they seem to have a decent build and they haven't ever failed me.

Steve

I understand your pain, just wondering what went wrong, wasnt trying to be a PITA..or a smart ***. the modifoer mount takes some getting used to, but I have pounded mine pretty hard and the held up very well.

Maybe I got crappy copies of both the StudioMax and the Powerlight units I was using, but that's a fairly rare occurrence (I teach statistics - I can't help it). I switched to Bowens and haven't had any issues other than I burned out a flash tube. The Bowens lights "feel" (they are hefty units) like they are of a higher quality - whether they are or not is not my place to say.
