Softbox rental - 01-29-2010, 07:14 PM

I have a shoot on Monday, and my equipment is'nt coming in til Thursday, I was wondering if anyone knew anyone who did rentals for soft boxes or anything in the Houston area? Something that doesn't require a $150 minimum cause that's all I've found. Thanks

What kind of lights do you have? Different lights use different speedrings to connect the soft boxes.

Let's see ... there is Light-Tec, Industrial Audio Video, TexCam, Digital 8, Stage Directions and Bright Star Productions.

I do alot of freelance commercials and corporate Oil Gigs ... in the video world.

Aside from Light-Tec, the rest of these guys here are mainly Video Production companies. So, their softboxes are usually for continuous lights ... but if that is what you are going for their you go.

I have rented from all of these guys accept Bright Star. A buddy of mine rents from them. He told me that they are good too. As for the rest, I say you will find what you need from one of those companies.

Good luck with your gig.

The only lights I have now are two umbrella lights, which don't seem to do much. I don't really know anything about studio lighting because I do outdoor photography, but I am trying to get into it. Thanks for the replies so far, I am looking into the sites

An umbrella is a modifier, we need to know what manufacturer makes your light (or at minimum what mount your lights use). Studio lights come in a lot of various makes and models.

Just use the umbrella lights that you have. Renting equipment you are not familiar with is just asking for disaster.
