Cool Flash problems! - 02-04-2010, 02:14 PM

I bought one of the 10 meter iTTL cords from an eBay seller, hooked it up to my Nikon SB 600 and D 50. It worked just fine, the exposure was spot on, but I put the camera down, and the flash triggered itself at random intervals.

My Nikon SC-17cord sure doesn't do that!

I figured it must have to do with the electronic wizardry in my flash, so I changed it for a Quantaray 383 (rebranded Sunpak) and a Sunpak 433AF and 433D, all 3 in manual mode. Same thing.

The seller informed me he had several complaints regarding the SB600 not working properly with the cord. Back it went!

I just watched the review on the CTR 310 "eBay" trigger, which was very positive, and note that there is now a new variant that takes standard AAA batteries for the receivers instead of the $pecialty battery for the older models. I am thinking of purchasing a set.

Has anyone had experience with the newer generation of triggers? Any recommendations about who to purhase from?

My experience with the LinkDelight people and communication have been negative. Their products are good, especially if they are the simple little things, like flash diffusers, exposiscs, and the like, but let something not be quite right, and...oh boy! The door slams shut!
