I figured out my problem.

I have a 580EX I flash that when I place it on hot shoe adapter to use off camera it won't trigger because it needs to have the single front bottom pin pressed. I have to use a different hot shoe adapter that will press the front single pin in order for it to fire.

I have 430EX that it will trigger even if the pins on the bottom of the flash are pressed or not. Is that the design of the 580EX I

I can not hold the 580EX in my hand and fire it in my hand unless I press the bottom front pin.
