I use Impact for my big stands, but for portable stands the Bogen Nano stands are hard to beat. I can carry 5 speedlights, 2 nano stands, 2 westcott double fold umbrellas, PW's, etc. in a Lowepro CompuTrekker Plus.

Since Keith mentioned the Bogen Nano... consider the LumoPro LP604 instead. LumoPro-LP604

The LumoPro is virtually identical to the Bogen Nano... except that it is a lot more sturdy and is less expensive!

thanks for the post. Hmmm...worth looking at. I use Man./Bogen exclusively, but would love to save some $$$$

Eddie - you can't just say you got new equipment without either posting some pics of the equipment or posting some pics you got from using the equipment. I think that's against the rules or something.

for real cheap, I am using a impact stand and umbrella. Not heavy duty but for the price of one of the other stands I can get like 4 of these. Add a sandbag the seem to work just fine. I dont think I would use them outside on a windy day though.

Thanks for the heads up on Cheetah stands. They arrived the very next day after my order was placed. I used them extensively yesterday to shoot real estate photos and I gotta say it was really nice to not be clanging the base around all the freshly painted walls. Just pick'em up and right on to the next room. They are perfectly stable for indoor work with small light modifiers on them. I couldn't be more pleased.
