The interfit Stellar Xtreme 300 Vs X300 - 03-10-2010, 06:04 AM

Good day fellow photographers..

I have been reading in this forum for quite a while.. Tons of great info and inspiring examples..

I have now decided to buy a lighting kit for a home studio (Oh, another one of those which one to buy questions!!?!!)

I have the following two options (to buy from an online shop here in New Zealand, I would've gone for the Bees but not available here and shipping is $$$$$):

I found the Interfit to be recommended as a "good" option for beginners?!

The Interfit Stellar Xtreme 300

Power:
300W/S.
When measured, although the input power is 300W, the output is equivalent to 600W/S studio flashes.

Bowens "S" Type Bayonet fittings
Variable power: Full - 1/16th 1/10th steps
5600k +/-100k150w
Battery pack:
6-8 hour charge
80-100 flashes per full charge at full power.
250 plus flashes on Minimum power on a full charge
with suitable larger stands, 80x120 softbox umbrella and a large bag For roughly $1060 USD

The interfit Stellar X300

User changeable flash tubes
Built in slave cell.
Auto Power Dumping
"S" Type Bayonet fittings
Flash Power 300W/S
Modelling lamp 150W Adjustable
Variation Flash Adjustability1/16-full
Fan Cooling
Sync Voltage 4.3
User Changeable Flash Tube
Recycle Time 2 sec
Colour Temp 5600

with suitable stands, 80x120 softbox umbrella and a large bag but NO battery packs For roughly $815 USD

----

I am planning to do mostly portraits of family and new coming baby mostly.. As well as some still life photography (are studio lights good for studio based macro photography ?!!)

If you could kindly help me decide and be less angry with yet another newbie seeking your" expert opinion"

Regards, AboHadi
