Ebay Off Camera Flash Trigger - 04-13-2010, 04:36 PM

Has anyone used these in place of Pocket Wizards? How reliable is it? And does it have problems triggering all the time? I have a 580EX ii and a couple of 430EX that I'd like to use it on. Camera is 20D and Canon T2i. Thanks.

Hey Richard,

I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money on PW's.. so to see if I could get the hang of Off camera flash and stobist shooting I bought ebay triggers...
these actually, (not from this buyer I don't think, but same product)

301 Flash Remote Trigger Set fr Canon 430EX PT04 - eBay (item 120538868720 end time May-03-10 01:31:41 PDT)

I couldn't be happier with them.. I got three Recievers and a transmitter for around $60.00 shipped.. Honestly haven't seen any problems with misfires, they are pretty durable (but I'm not hard on gear) and aside from having to change the batteries right away, I love them! I would recomend them for sure..

I will say this after looking at your post one thing I do like about the ones you are looking at... THEY TAKE REGULAR AA BATTERIES... I wish mine did...

There is a mention of triggers from Gadget Infinity on the Strobist blog; Strobist: Lighting 101: PC Cords and Pocket Wizards

might be the same thing you're referring to.

I bought a set of RF-602 trigger & receivers (got 1 trig, 2 rcvr about $70).
No problems so far as far as not triggering.
On one setup I did have one prefire a couple of times.
My only fault with them so far is that they are loose if put on flash feet.

I am using them with a Canon 40D, Sigma DG 500 Super and 2 YN-460ii flashes (The YN's are also ebay manual flashes for about $50 each)

i had purchased a set too.
I haven't had a problem with them especially with the amount I spent ($22 including shipping).

Have been using the same ones for about a year. They have been very reliable.

I wonder why it doesn't list compatibility with 420ex.

Cactus?

i have 2 v4s, they're performing really well for the price point. Unless you do 4-5 fps, i don't think you'll have problems using these.

How are the YN-460ii flashes doing for you, any problems or issues?

No problems with the flash - actually I like them more than my Sigma DG 500 Super.

The triggers fit the flashes fine, but you need some cardboard or rubber to make the triggers fit the stand tight.
