If you baby your equipment, only photograph short people, wait six seconds between exposures, and don't need modeling lights, then this is a good buy. It is all plastic, but fairly well made. The two taller stands are a bit short and light weight for my tastes. It take about six seconds for these lights to recycle and even though two have modeling bulbs, the output is quite low.

Someone who knows lighting pretty well could make these work, but they could be quite frustrating for a novice.

I have been pricing the following all day:

2 Light stands 7' or higher
2 flash mounted soft boxes
2 universal flash mounts
1 Remote flash trigger with 3 receivers

All this comes to about $200-$250 I might as well buy the dang kit and get all the extra stuff with it

I bought it. haven't shot with it yet- in fact finally pulled it out of the box a couple of weeks after it arrived. looks decent for a beginner- but this is my first exposure to studio lighting so what do i know??? going to shoot some ballet portraits of my daughter and niece this weekend, will let you know how it turns out.
