I here differing opinions. Some say you have to get your light modified or use a shield over the light to get them to work properly. I've also heard of some using new firmware but not sure if this is the case.

I know Radio Poppers are an option but I like not having to use an on camera flash if I don't have to.

If you don't need to trigger from more than a few hundred feet away, it should work fine. The shield they designed is supposed to increase the range.

I've been using it from last year at events with no problems. If you don't want to use the shield and still want to trigger it from far away, get the 550ex. I find them to be the best.

Not only you don't need a flash on your camera, you can also use them to trigger your manual strobes (i.e. elinchrom...).
