Old thread but yes, that's your solution. Except you need the RPCuber for your 580

You will need a PX Transmitter for the trigger and pair that with a 580/550/or ST-E2.

While you may use the cube, it's generally for non-Canon/Nikon flashes like the Sunpaks.

That is correct. You would need either a PX or JrX Transmitter and pair that with a JrX Studio Receiver. You get 100% reliability up to 1500' and remote control of power.

I thought you had a CyberCommander - doesn't that control the AB's remotely?

You can adjust AB light with RP Jrx + RCCube

My experience with RP:

I actually ordered some RP units, 1Tx and 2Rx but returned them.

I was able to trigger a remote 580ex and a Q-flash with attached Qnexus , using a 580ex as a commander.

I got inconsistence flash result when using all three flashes. One commander, one remote worked.
But when using ratio A:B,C, it didn't work.

Not sure what was the issue. In diagnostic mode, the checksum bits on the RP were all over the place. You're supposed to get the same checksum bits on all units

RP sent me a replacement set. Same result. So...too much troubleshooting for the money ($750 for 3 units)

So for those users that have RP, make sure you turn on diagnostic mode to check out your units

Yeah I have cybersyncs but didn't realized the RadioPoppers controlled the power of Alienbees too. I'm assuming that they work the same for Einsteins?

Cybersyncs are ok for controlling Alienbees stuff but they are only dumb triggers for speedlights.

So what I'm finding out from this thread is that I have to shell out a lot of money for RadioPoppers to be able to control my Nikon SB800/900 and Einstein...and maybe a Quantum T2...with one solution.

Is this all TTL or can you remotely change power manually from the camera/trigger?
I prefer manual control and have grouping to turn flashes on and off remotely.

Both TTL and manual for speedlite and Qflash (with Qnexsus, that turned Qflash into Canon or Nikon TTL compatible)

I believe you can only do manual power adjustment with AB stuff

The RJ-11 phone jack was left out of the Einstein system in exchange for a full digital interface. Without the phone jack, the JrX Studio units cannot change the power settings remotely. They can still trigger the units using the 1/4" plug, but no power settings can be adjusted.

You can mix and match. TTL and manual is available for anything attached to a PX receiver. Manual control is available for any compatible device that is attached to a JrX Studio receiver.

I've shot the RPs at 6 different weddings last year and various other shoots and found them extremely reliable. I also had a primary shooter work with the PocketWizard Mini's who had all types of problems. While they are not the end all, be all - personally - I can't say enough about these triggers.

The Cactus V5's are decent basic triggers, but you lose TTL capability and remote manual control. The RadioPopper PXs are also capable of HSS. With the Cactus, If you place a few triggers too close - you'll lose some reliability.

Actually they do have remote capability. this is a new feature. There isn't any TTL though, but I shoot Manual.

Sorry, meant to say remote manual power control (of studio strobes). Not sure how they'd accomplish that with studio strobes unless they added an RJ11 port to their triggers.

I have a Quantum T2 and would like to know how to use a RadioPopper JrX Studio system to manually control power levels remotely.

I know you can do it with the later Quantums like the T5Dr using the QNexus and a RadioPopper PX receiver but I don't really need TTL that the PX has. PX is too expensive for me.
