Chameleon 42 in. 5 in 1 reflector - 12-14-2005, 04:18 PM

It is interesting how one can be sucked in to Ebay by thinking the prices found there are better than retail.
Today I went to Arlington Camera and bought the Chameleon 42in 5 in 1 reflector because I have a natural lighting shoot tomorrow. The store price was $56.95. When I got home, just for the heck of it I checked Ebay to see what I COULD have gotten one for if I wasn't in a hurry.
Ebay buy it now for either $59.95 plus $10 shipping, or $64.95 plus shipping.

For the most part, I have had good experience with Arlington Camera as well. They do answer all my questions which can usually frustrate people.

I got my 42in 5in1 on Ebay for $34.00 including shipping. It was from Amvona and it seems to be pretty much the same thing...I'm happy with it anyway. I'm wondering about some of their other stuff. They've gotten almost $100% positive feedback, so it might be worth picking up something else from them.

Cool.. I looked at the Amvona stuff at the camera store. I think they are very similar. As I recall, the Amvona 42in. 5in1 was more expensive than the Chameleon. Sounds like you got good deal..

I didn't know you could buy it in a store. Was this at Arlington Camera? If so, I'll have to drop in and take a look at their stands.

Call first. I may have it confused with B&H. Arlington Camera does have some good stands as well.

After being a buyer and a seller on Ebay for close to six years I've learned you have to really dig through all the auctions to find the bargins and then hope someone with more money than brains doesn't come along and run the price up. It's against Ebay rules but I think sometimes sellers hav friends bid on their items just to jack the price up. I've gotten some good deals on there but I've had to walk away from a bunch of auctions just because the price was getting to high. One thing I could never figure out is these reserves? I have never put a reserve on any of my items. I list the item for the minimun I will take and if it sells great if not then the reserve wasn't going to help me. So far I've only had a few items I had to relist and they sold the second go around. Ebay's not what it used to be though, can't believe I said that! I have stock in that sucker!
