You'll get better results by forgetting about the kook aid diffuser and putting some cheesecloth or other light/white material over the opening in the reflector.
To soften the shadows , increase the relative size of the light source by making it bigger or putting it closer to the subject.

putting some cheesecloth or other light/white material over the opening in the reflector.fuser and



another thing that works good is the chefs mate flexible cutting mats. the thinner ones that can be cut. just cut them to the size of the light shade, and if you want a more permanent defuser you can drill holes at the top and use zip ties to secure it, other wise some tape to hold it in place works great too.

You are only using 100 watt bulbs just lose the coolaid diffuser all together.
