Is Profoto Compact 600 comparable to D1 500? - 03-23-2011, 07:15 PM

I am looking for some quality light for table top photography and lights for weddings.
My questions: Is Profoto Compact 600 comparable to D1 500? I would like to get the new D1 but they are expensive. Is the light quality of the Compact and the D1 is similar?
Thanks a lot!

Profoto is known for having consistent high quality light from unit to unit. I own Profoto's Acute2 series.

Here is a link to a post asking a similar question: Difference between Profoto 600, 600R and D1

Quality is the same, but the light spread is different between the two.
I believe right out of the box the D1 has a narrower spread than the
compacts. However, a dome can be fitted on the D1 to alter the light
spread.

I was told by a distributor that he likes them better, told me the compacts are the the best you can buy for the money. They are getting hard to find though, I have been looking for a 600 or 300r as a backup.
