Exactly what Wayne said. A monojack will stay in place, while a PC jack will fall out easily. Going down to 1/64th is very nice. I generally use them at 1/16th or 1/32nd.

OK... So I looked into the LumoPro 160... On MPEX you cannot specify wether you want to purchase it for a canon or a nikon camera... does it matter? is it not dedicated?

It is completely manual, the only thing that controls the output of the flash is you and doesnt receive any information from the camera other than when to fire. (It is not dedicated). This goes for the aforementioned Vivitar 285 also.

If you're going completely manual, check out the Youngnuo 560 flash. $70 through Amazon. I have one and I'm very impessed with the Price\Quality ratio.
