Cable/Connection Question - 04-10-2011, 09:58 PM

I have a connection issue I can't work out. My Sunpak 611 has a household sync outlet and came with a household male to PC male cord. My ebay trigger (T3H) has a 1/8 (3.5mm) male mono plug.

So far, I looked for and couldn't find:
- Household cord with anything that'll work on the other end.
- Female PC to anything cord, other than to male PC, which puts me back where I started.
- T3H trigger with a sync port.

I have pretty much everything else. Cords, adapters, etc.

Any ideas?

This is all you should need based on what I am reading in your post. Your HH > PCM would plug directly into a Skyport or PW, but in your case you need a dual female.

FlashZebra.com: Mono F⁄F Miniphone Coupler (Item #0076)

Keep in mind that 611 has really high sync voltage. Not sure what the Ebay triggers are rated for?

John, I did. I can order a custom cord from them, but nothing off the shelf.

I did find this.

It's described as parallel and bidirectional. I get the bidirectional part, but I can't decide if parallel means that that all females connect to the male, but not to each other, which would defeat the purpose for me. If the females feed to each other, I can connect the male from the flash to one and a male PC to female mono to another, then plug the receiver to that.

How does a parallel connection work and is there a better solution?

Warren, I have those. They connect the mono-to-PC to the male mono out of the receiver.

Sorry, I missed the PC part. Ok, so try this route:
PocketWizard PC Female to Miniphone Adapter 804-605 B&H Photo

You should be able to use with the dual female you already have. HH > PC / MM > Dual Female > Ebay trigger

Nice find! This might just be the ticket. Is there any difference between standard PC sync and Pocket Wizard PC sync?

Found the answer: This is a 1/8" male mono to standard female PC adapter, which is exactly what I needed. Thanks for the help, Warren. Much appreciated.

This is probably a better option, as you have a better connection.

I like this one better. My household end is three prong. I'm guessing the third prong is for TTL?? I don't need TTL for my setup.

I can not say with authority about the TTL, but I was once told that the 3rd prong was to avoid the plug being used in a "120v household receptacle" (edit to note I have no idea if this is true or not). Either way, you will be good to go with a 2 prong...no issues.

That's my thinking, too. Thanks again!

Edit to add: Since the PC end is two conductor, the third prong could not be in play for this cable regardless.
