Background Stands - I Need One - 04-25-2011, 01:31 PM

For many years I've been using a Savage "Port-a-Stand" as my solution for a traveling background stand. While I prefer to use a wall mounted solution in my studio, I need a portable unit and the good old Savage has worn out. Both stands have stripped out leg locks and the telescoping cross bar sags like an old mare's back. I want to go to the style with 4 locking sections on the cross bar and a little sturdier for hanging muslins as well as 9' paper rolls. I like Westcott as a brand so perhaps this is a good solution:

Anyone have experience with this one or can recommend another manufacturer? I called Dallas Camera to see what brand they have (I've rented theirs before), and not only don't they sell them, the brand they rent isn't even made any more and they won't sell any because they can't find a good one. Yikes!

Scott,

I have a JTL that works pretty well. You're welcome to borrow it and see if you like it before you buy one.
