Help - 580ex ii wobbles - 06-22-2011, 09:21 PM

I just got my speedlight back from a camera repair place becuase it basically popped off from the hot shoe (all the wires were exposed) and it's fixed but it wobbles now. Any one else have this issue? I never had this issue on my 40d and it started doing this on my 7d right after I started using the gary fong diffuser

Below I put a link to a forum and a picture of exactly what mine is doing. Has any one had any experience fix it the diy way they are referring to?

Anyone ever had mechanical issues with a 580EXII - Canon Digital Photography Forums

You could try the DIY mentioned but if you're not mechanically inclined then I agree with one answer in the other forum. You should return it to the repair place. BTW, that's never happened on my 580ex II.

You're missing a large rubber piece that fits in there, but not sure that it'd be causing THAT much of a wobble. You mentioned the rubber in your post, but I can't tell if you've just removed it to demonstrate or not...

Also, are you sure the locking pin comes out when in the lock position?
