I think I've decided I'm not a huge fan of ring lights because of the catch lights. When you shoot from the middle of the ring, it puts the catch lights in the middle of the eye, and it looks really creepy to me.

However, I find that true of continuous ring lights. I actually like the catch lights you achieve here, and I agree that they look kind of flower like. They definitely don't look like aliens like some of the other shots I've seen. Very neat DIY, and thanks for sharing.
