Saw these really cool, and reasonably priced filament light bulbs in a Restoration Hardware catalog yesterday.
I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to use them to create a mood in fashion or other photography. ideas?

They're very cool! However, I'm not sure they have much of an application beyond anything your standard household light bulb could do. Not to mention their price.. wowza..!

using filament bulbs - 08-30-2011, 09:26 AM

I was talking about using the bulbs as props, using them in lamps that are IN the picture to add atmosphere, not to light the subject. The film noir look, or Victorian industrial. $7.50 didn't seem high to me at all.

I agree, and I think they'd look awesome!!! Besides, I doubt they would put out much light, which is good since you won't have to use incredible amounts of light to overpower them. I say order some. They'd also be interesting for some steam punk type photo shoots for people interested in that genre.

I think I will too. I have a couple light fixtures that these would be pretty cool in, lol.

Those are beautiful lights, I love them! May have to order a few also. Didn't know this would start a shopping spree. :)
