SP Studio Reflector - 12-26-2004, 09:00 PM

hey guys i've been needing to get a large reflector for portraits shots and such and finally got a chance to head to a local camera store and check them out...

i need one for this week so making an online order was out of the question. i found this one:

42" SP Studios System 5 in 1 Reflector

locally i got it for $65 at Camer Co-Op (houston) and i loved the idea of having all 5 surfaces to choose from! i was originally debating which color should i get first but this little set covers all of the bases... Silver, White, Black, Gold and Translucent

just thought i would let you guys know about it if youre in need of a reflector as well.

I have this, impulse purchase. lol.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...872&is=REG

Lastolite Tri Grip Reflector

Enhance your subject's lighting environment with the Translucent Tri-Grip. This Tri-Grip can diffuse harsh sun or studio light, or act as a subtle white reflector.

The Tri-Grip replaces the traditional round reflector with a unique triangular design with a built-in handle. The Tri-Grip's comfortable handle allows for easy manipulation of the reflecting panel with no stand or support needed -- especially useful when the photographer is working alone. The triangular shape combines the ability to collapse the product down and the ability to hold itself rigid.

The Tri-Grip measures approximately 33" on each side, and is also available in the following colors: Gold/White, Sunfire/Silver, and Silver/White.

If all that you are looking for is a reflector, buy some foamcore board. It's relatively inexpensive, and, according to many, it's about as close to a perfect reflective surface as is available. One can buy a 4'x8' sheet for $20-$30.

Cliff.

FOAMCORE does work great and it is a defiinite option as far as in studio type work... one of the main reasons i opted for the SP Reflection was because of its portability...

i can take it anywhere and use it out in the field. hehee. i think it'll even fit in my Lowepro Minitrekker gear bag...

:)

(btw cliff welcome to the forums!)

Another one that I use is to get the circular collapsable sun shades for auto windshields. You can get them with a color on one side, and usually silver or white/grey on the other.

I picked up one that was gold on one side and light grey on the other at a dollar store. It collapses down to about 6" diameter and pops open to about 2 feet.

I am also looking at dollar stores for a blue one for the blue bounce/reflection.
