Question Portable Studio Lighting? - 12-12-2011, 01:56 AM

Hello everyone!

I am starting a new business in Colombia, South America and I am not completely sure on the equipment I need so I am looking for some advice.

I will be taking photographs of babies and will need to be able to move between different rooms each day to take professional photos of these babies.

Is anyone aware of the best lighting equipment I could use in order to compete this job? Something that would be easy to set up and break down within a few minutes and would be light enough to carry around all day long?

Thanks for your help!

Speedlights. Or Elinchrom Ranger Quadras.

Off camera speedlights with wireless triggers, stands and light modifiers of your choice.

Elinchrom Ranger Quadra is probably the best choice for balancing price, quality of light, quality of modifiers, weight and portability. The flash head is smaller and weighs less than a 580EX II or SB-900. I have one and love it. The 400w/s is more than enough for indoors.

If it is out of the budget, look for a speedlight setup. David Hobby at Strobist explains how to get started with speedlights better than just about anyone.

I have to say Elinchrom Ranger Quadras too. Small compact, little work horses.
