Fuji X100 & Elinchrom Quadra - 01-26-2012, 01:24 PM

I may have to give these two a try this weekend just to see how it works...

Apparently the fuji's sync speed is 1/1000th so that beats my 5dmk2's 1/200th.

What gets me is that my 7D sync speed is 1/250, which is better than my 5DMkII. Yet, my 5D cost me $1k more.

Would be nice to hear if the 1/1000s sync speed really works with an off camera flash. My guess would be it only works with the one integrated in the body.

I've read that it does work with OCF.. I'll definitely try it out this weekend to be certain.

My X100 will trigger my SB800s really easily! High speed sync and all. Beautiful thing. =)

am I wrong, or does the x100 have an electronic shutter?

If it has an electronic shutter it should be able to sync up to the max shutter speed of the camera.

The canon powershot series g-9 through g-12 that have the hot shoe on the camera can sync at all shutter speeds of the camera, and the only problem that I have ever run into is that the shutter is often done prior to alien bee unit reaching full power, so it is only marginally effective over speeds of 1/1250

Yeah my X100 had been working great with my Quadra, einsteins, PW, etc.. Because of the Leaf Shutter it can sync at high speeds...

Hardwired I can sync up to 1/4000 secs with my 580EXII. With PW I can do 1/1000 and some people are getting 1/2000 using PW and light duration. That built in hardware based ND filter helps a lot too :)

I should mount the ring flash to my X100 and see how that does....
