The manuals at least mention this - it depends on how you are connecting to the strobe though.
I'm plugging in to the sync connection. I don't even own anything that will plug into the remote connection.

I think this unit is just defective. So I'll just send it back and hope for a better one.

First thing to do is change the battery out in the transmitter - these babies are famous for malfunctioning when battery is low - $5.00 at RadioShack

Also try triggering it from 6 or 8 feet away from the light. I had a unit that was horrible right next to the light but it would work if I was further away....
