Yep. Our toaster4's boot HD was fried in the recent storms, was able to drive it up to San Ant. for the repairs. Meanwhile were running ver. 2 and Trinity (anyone remember that one?).
CCISD does alot of it's live switching content with the Tricaster, love the portability. Although we can do the streaming directly with it, we have the MediaSite (Sonic foundry) which works a little smoother.
Gotta love those falling sheep.

Toaster is a video program made by the company NewTek. It takes in multiple video sources and spits them back out, applying effects, motion, etc. You can also use Toaster as an editor, audio mixer, color corrector, graphics builder, and many others. Essentially, an all-in-one video suite. Because it's mostly software based, components and hardware that would cost usually over $50k, are available in a program and hardware setup for under $10k.
For schools, public access cable, etc. It's a great program, when well equipped on the hardware.

As for the toaster, we just got one with the quartz in an oven config and it does a great job on left over pizza. But that would be hijacking a thread.
Back to the OP, this was an excellent overview of the 4 qualities of light, Intensity, Direction, Color, and Size. Very nice of you to spot that!

I had some free time tonight and played around in Lightwave - which shows you an active demonstration of the light / effect (be the source a bare bulb, open face PAR, frensel, etc.)
So if you're in the market for software to learn basic lighting with, you're only $4000 away (not including properly equipped tower and monitors.) I wish they had a software program much like lightwave, that could show the effect of strobes in various modifiers and intensities. Shadow cast from a bare bulb vs. softbox, etc. It'd be a great learning tool. I've done it with continuous lighting, to plan multiple scenes and spitting out a CAD image for storyboard. I imagine it'd be the same idea with strobes.
On that note, anyone want to buy a gently used Trinity system with a bad SDI out card? Anyone at all? I'll start the bidding at one bag of jolly ranchers. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
