Photogenic PG-4001ML - 10-28-2007, 01:06 PM

I have the following lights Photogenic PG-4001ML lights and today I was trying to take photos outside and I had a hard time getting the slaves to fire. I don't have this problem indoors so I think it was too bright for the onboard slaves to catch the light to make them fire. I had to put them very close together to make them fire.

I don't have a lot of experience and the photogenic website is not helping...I have 3 lights and 3 sync cords but how can I connect them together and connect to my camera at the same time...is ther an adapter or splitter?

Those lights will WORK OUTDOORS, but were really never designed to do so. If you are going to use them outdoors your best bet would be PocketWizards or one of the Chinese radio transmitters with three receivers. You can also use these in the studio and eliminate your sync cord totally. You could get just one set and daisy chain all the lights together with a three way PC adapter if you can find one.

Bondarnes,
So with the 3 way PC adapter I could connect the cord to my camera and then connect all 3 lights to the adapter? If so this would be ideal!!!!

Are they hard to find?

Yes, either to the camera which I don't recommend or to a radio receiver which I do recommend. You can get a Chinese one on eBay for less than $40.00 with shipping. The adapter may be hard to find. I checked Arlington Camera, Houston Camera Exchange, and Adorama with no luck. I couldn't get B&H to come up. Their site seems to be down. I have seen them at Arlington Camera on the rack with the sync cords. You might have to make a trip to HCE and find it yourself. It will probably be on a clearance rack.
