What size softbox - 08-19-2008, 11:30 PM

I recently purchased an older set of Novatron Flash heads. The flash heads are rated at 1000 ws but the power pack is only rated for 240 ws. What sized soft boxes and umbrellas would be best to use
Thanks for you thoughts.

I use 320w/s heads with 3x4 and 2x3 Photoflex softboxes with good results. I have used them with 3x5 softboxes as well and they seemed to work fine.

Not exactly the answer you were looking for, but thought it might provide some frame of reference.

I missed this when first posted. You should be able to use any size of Softbox or Umbrella with the heads you have. For softboxes you will need the proper adaptor, but unless you have some really old heads an umbrella will attach to the head through the umbrella mount hole. Keep in mind that the larger the light source, the softer the light will be. Your power pack however may not have enough power for more than one head unless you want to shoot at a higher ISO or use a wide open f-stop.
