I've done some research on radio slaves, and know as much as I need to know about PW's.
My question is : Do you own the EL-Skyport Universal Radio Slave Set , and if so what is your opinion of them ??

i have a set right now on loan from HCE and have planned to give them a proper run through since theyre price point is awesome. you can get a receiver & transmitter for the price of a single pocket wizard. not too shabby..

I have a set that I use to fire a 580 & a 430. They work very well and I haven't had a single misfire. The transmitter has a lower profile while sitting on the hotshoe than the PW. I always worried about knocking the PW off since it sticks up so high.

My only complaint is that the transmitter uses a flat watch battery and the receivers have a built in battery as opposed to the PW's which use AA I believe. I'd prefer to have a standard battery but its not a deal breaker especially when you consider the price difference.

Hope that helps,
Cheers!

Thanks guys.
The price difference as compared to PW's is a big deal for me.
Their smaller size also is important because I only have so much room in the bag. I'm trying to delay buying a bigger bag, but as we all know, resistance is futile.

I have a set and it works great on my 580. My only concern is that the transmitter uses a watch battery and the receiver uses internal rechargeable battery.

It was the price that “sold” me.

They just arrived (on time) even though the UPS tracking site said they are still sitting in Dallas and need to go to the Forth Worth distribution center. I even called the service line and they said they'll get here tomorrow. Of course the driver put them on my neighbors doorstep. I asked him as he was walking away if he was looking for me and he said "nope" and then a couple of minutes later he knocked on my door with the box ( the same one he left at the neighbors ) !!
