I don't need the TTL feature but I am eagerly awaiting the Nikon version of the transmitter just for the lower form factor on camera. As long as it will reliably trigger my Plus and Plus IIs I'm good to go. Of course, if the TTL function works well, I might be enticed.

I also don't use TTL and I prefer studio flashes for my outside shoots. I have to say that TTL is a good option to have available for us to use with this new pocket-wizards but I guess I will wait a little longer to buy in to this new system. Thanks Mike and the TriCoast crew for your efforts.

Blessings!

In a nutshell, one (ST-E2) uses IR that requires line of site and short distance and the other (PW) uses radio channels...Both support ETTL. Previously, only Radio Poppers supported ETTL in a radio frequency configuration. All others were manual triggers with no TTL capabilities.

AndrewCCM added 3 Minutes and 7 Seconds later...Double Post Merged Below

Once KJ gets back in town I'll ask him to post a couple of examples from Saturdays wedding using the PW's.. I tested them briefly, but we only had one set which he used all night on the 5D Mark II. It seemed to work very well. We had an assistant with the flash on a monopod throughout the night as well as one on a light stand on the dance floor. The results were very good as long as the flash wasn't facing a reflective surface like a mirror (which messes ETTL up even when on camera and no PW).

KJ will have much more of a valid opinion than I do. I actually only shot about 5 or 6 frames with it.

I'll be using my new PWIIs for quite a while, but this is good info to know. Thanks for all your work!

Thanks for the info! I was actually thinking which one to purchase, it seems that the PW still has some compatibility issues right?

What does a "black shutter bar" mean?
