Carolina Horse-Nettle & Green Bee face - 05-21-2009, 05:47 PM

I made a run out to Brazos Bend SP early this morning... I had to get my five hour nature fix for this week. It wasn't a very productive morning but sometimes that's the way it is in nature photography. This little guy/gal paid a visit to the Carolina Horse-Nettle I was working on and I got a few shots off before it moved on. I don't know the ID, very small and a beautiful green and moved around a lot too.
Made with D80, Nikkor AF 105/2.8D on a tripod. The Exif is in the photo. Thanks for looking!

Very nice Jim, it looks like an Orchid Bee.

Very nice shot, Jim! Love the composition. Can't disagree with the orchid bee ID, certainly is a good candidate. Sure hope to get a chance at one of these next week.

Thanks Kenny. This was just blind luck...It was time to head to the house and I stopped to work on this little flower for a few minutes. This guy just happened to land on the one I was setup on or I'd never got it...One of them "right place at the right time" situations and I think that's just plain ol' being lucky. I agree with y'all on the ID...Love bugguide.net! You can be sure we'll get something out there... Don't know what yet, but I'm going to show you to my most favorite lookin' spot in the entire park. If Therese is out of school we may see her out there too.

Thanks for the comments Roy, Jan (thanks for the ID), John and Bill!

I'd love to meet you guys at BBSP for some macro fun. If only school would end.
