Mercer Botanical mish-mash - 06-13-2009, 02:39 PM

Made my semi-monthly trip down to Mercer Botanical Gardens in Houston TX this morning. Ran into Therese(ttusa) right off the bat. We had a nice visit. She got some nice bumblebees...hope they look as good on the screen as they did in the LCD, Therese. Shot from 8:00 to 9:30 and by then it was getting quite warm. Hope you enjoy them.

#1 Stilt fly, Rainiera antennaipes

#2 Same fly

#3 Snail among the greenery

#4 The requisite damselfly

There were lots of purple coneflowers blooming and lots solitaries and bumblebees working them over. If I'd wanted to sit in the sun and shoot, I could've filled up a CF card.

#5 Solitary

#6 Probably the same one

Thanks for looking.

Kenny

Thanks Deanna. Using a Nikkor 105mm f2.8 and I was 5 or 6 inches away, probably.

A nice series Kenny - the last two are fantastic. It looks like image 4 (damsel fly) is not showing up.

Thanks John. Flickr musta had a temporary hiccup...they do that occasionally; it shows now.

Tom, you can and you will get your light where YOU want it. Just keep experimenting and shooting. Takes practice, my friend.
