Aggie Gardens offerings - 06-24-2009, 09:20 AM

Went by the Aggie holistic gardens before work this AM and shot a little while. Also 'stole' a nice tomato for lunch...but don't tell anyone. I figure I'm advertising their garden, so fair is fair.

Shooting specs: Nikon D300(f/11, 1/250, ISO 100-200), Nikkor 105 w/52.5mm tube, diffused R1C1 twin flash, all handheld.

#1 Acanthocephalus nymph

#2 Damselfly having breakfast

#3 Zelus longpipes

#4 Fly

#5 Damselfly in the tomato bush

Thanks for looking.

Kenny

Looks like the garden is being good for you - both for shooting subjects and for lunch!

so i am just curious...when taking pics like this do you need to get extremely close up or does the high rez of the camera just allow you to zoom in once the pics have been uploaded

Thanks, John. That tomato was delicious and I'm gonna have to sample the figs pretty soon too.

With a 52.5mm tube attached, if I'm shooting at lifesize (1:1 on the lens scale), I am within 4-6 inches of the subject. Quite close.

Really like the "Longpipes" and the "fly". Great detail. Although its redundant, great shots.

The fly is my fave, but I've never seen a red/orange damsel fly before! The only color I can ever seem to find is blue.
