Ray Roberts Stare Park - Mtn Bike Trail - 03-31-2010, 07:02 PM

This flower was coming up thru the burn area at RR State Park - Isle de Bois. They did a controlled burn up there to clear undergrowth. The area of the burn is coming back in such rich contrast of color. The pic below was taken on a very windy day. The petals of the flower look like they have been softened. I didn't do anyting except crop. The color seems to have come out rather nicely.

This looks fine! The wind is the enemy of closeup shooters...it's the main reason I shoot early in the morning when it's usually not too bad and I also carry a little tote umbrella in my bag to help block it sometimes it works pretty good.

Thanks, Jim. I think the bit of wind that I had actually helped in this shot. I like to softening on the edges of the petals. It gives the pic a etheral look. :-) Going to investigate the northern area of the park this weekend or next week. There is another mountain bike trail up there, too!

Nice framing and good bokeh. Looks a little soft on my monitor.

Tom, it is a little soft. It was pretty windy that day. I was just holding out to get a shot with light wind. I think the windiness actually played in my favor to give the flower a etheral look. It looks like it was taken with a Lens Baby. Not bad, all-in-all, I think! :-)
