Newton's First Law of Motion - 03-31-2010, 08:20 PM

This first shot was a complete accident. Was trying to steady a delphinium stem this ladybird has just landed on and by the time I got the camera lens balanced on my hand, this is what had happened. She crawled down the stem and when she hit my thumb, she stopped dead in her tracks before flying off.

#1 Looks funnier in its' original orientation, but I turned it 90 to the right

Some other stuff unrelated to Sir Isaac...

#2 Orb weaver hanging out on the underside of a digitalis plant

#3 No idea what sorta fly this is yet; smallish, around 5mm

#4 Very common fly, muscid, I believe

As always, thanks for looking.

great shots! Ok, is it just me or are those lady bugs bashful? I chased one around a flower yesterday for about 10 minutes and never could get a decent shot. I finally gave up and moved on.

Looks like the ladybug was tasting your thumb - must not have tasted too good as it flew off. You need to cook up some ladybug bait.

Excellent shots. Gonna start calling you "Lord of the Flies". My apologies to William Golding.
