Fantastic images, Kenny. They all are razor sharp, and show some stunning details.

These are fantastic! How do you get your "subjects" to sit still long enough to get set up? And what is your setup, if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you, I appreciate it.

A lot of the 'trick' to getting shots like these is no trick at all; just being patient and using good 'hunting' techniques. I usually just sit in a likely spot and wait...the critters will move, revealing themselves, and then I carefully get the camera into position and take the shot. It's a lot like hunting.

I have two separate handheld rigs, a Nikon rig and a Canon rig. I own a tripod but stopped using it for macro over a year ago; hard for me to go after active critters with it. Photos below:

The Nikon D300, Nikkor 105mm w/tube, Nikon SB-800 flash:

The Canon 20D, Canon 65mm MP-E, Canon 550EX flash:

Thanks, Billy, feeling is mutual. One of these days, I'm gonna buy enough mosquito dope to try your trick of night shooting.
