Tune-up for spring - 02-25-2011, 09:37 AM

I'm not sure I posted these here but going through some old files from last year ...can't wait to hunt for some more of these little guys in the prairie this year. Both made with my old Nikkor AF 75-300 and 25 mm tube from a tripod. Next week a new year starts at Brazos Bend for me...flower, bugs, and frogs.

I really like the second one's pose the most. Both are excellent renditions of the frog.

Thanks Scott! The good thing about these little guys is if you find one there are usually several in the area you just have to look for them. Therese (ttusa) was shooting with me on this morning and we saw a few of these little guys and worked on them.

You are killing me, Jim. I wish those green frogs were in my part of Texas. That first image is a keeper for sure.

Thanks John.... you may have some up there I'm not sure...it took me a while to find them at BBSP and they cut the area they live in every year for the deer hunt so it has to grow back for a while before they move in again. I hear them around the town home I live in but have never seen one...

Excellent shots Jim. I for one am really getting antsy for the start of macro season, the early stages of which have begun.

I like #2. The "Huh?" pose of the frog is great.

I'd love to live closer to BBSP, but not enough to sell the house I got :)

Shooting with this setup I'm about 5 feet away so it doesn't bother them much.
