I was feeling kinda artsy so i headed down with only my 105/4 micro and flash to see what shots developed. Thoughts?

Why did you shoot these at f/22 at Iso 800? (at least the ones I looked had that setting)

With that said, all of them are underexposed. I would play around with the curve....if you have PS.

I was shooting manual everything. Intentionally exposed to ensure no highlight detail was lost. If I opened up a bit more, details in the white would have been lost. Also, was wanting to use f22 to expand my DOF. Wide open the focus is extremely narrow. I used 800 on some of them because of wind and my desire to stop movement, that is I wanted to keep my shutter speed high. I also used iso 800 to increase the ambient light when I was doing spot lighting with my flash on the flower.

I actually like the mood with the flowers lit with detail and the background darker. I guess I don't see them as really underexposed. Personal perference :)

Do others feel they are too dark?

My first impressions were that they were a tad under exposed, but then I began thinking that you wanted it that way to set the mood. I do believe it is personal preference and it depends on what mood you have in your head for the shot.

Thanks for looking and your comments... definately going for the mood - trying to grow with the artsy side of photography :)

Should be getting a 5x7 greeting card set of the Classic White Tulip back soon from MPIX. I am not planning on selling but using for cards to send to friends when they experience loss. I love the subtle shades within the white petals that would be somewhat lost if I up'd the exposure a stop or so. Actually did that in capture and some of the highlight details become lost.

Excellent series. IMHO, the exposure is good.
