Landscape shooting in a Macro world - 05-10-2011, 01:54 PM

A Pink and Yellow World by Jeff Clow, on Flickr

I've had many a fellow photographer from Texas bemoan the fact to me that we don't have many landscape photo opportunities in much of our great state...other than way out west in Big Bend territory.

So I tell them that they need to give macro photography a try - when the world around us is turned into one magnficent landscape that is filled with wonders.

For example, this colorful yellow and black wasp was perched on a pink and yellow hydrangea bush in our garden. With the help of a Nikon D7000 and a Sigma 105mm macro lens, I was able to capture him as he traversed a very colorful piece of his world.

C & C always welcome and appreciated.

Beautiful capture, Jeff!! Agreed, we sometimes have to look closer to find the beauty around us. It is also a great escape from the brutal Texas heat.

Thanks, Jennifer - there is definitely beauty in the macro world that is literally at our back door or at the park down the street. I think every serious photographer in Texas owes it to themselves to give macro shooting a try....

I love seeing photos like this! I agree there are so many things in the macro world that other photographers miss seeing and the main reason I enjoying doing it so much.

Thanks, Ken - I appreciate the kind words. I have two cameras "at ready" in my house at all times, and one of them always has a macro lens on it.

Now that I have 2 cameras, I am doing the same thing. I am sure that my wife "loves" that plan!
