Mantis portrait.

This is a discussion on Mantis portrait. within the Macro forums, part of the Showcase category; I went Brazos Bend SP this morning to find some of these little guys in the prairie... got lucky and ...

Mantis portrait. - 07-28-2011, 05:42 PM

Critique: NC:

I went Brazos Bend SP this morning to find some of these little guys in the prairie... got lucky and found this little 3 inch long beauty on a plant I usually find them huntin on. I was hoping I'd find a brown one too, but no luck before it got too hot to chase any longer.

Tamron 180 mm F/8 @125 second ISO 200 on a tripod in natural light.

Wow, beautiful! I love the antennae. Haven't been staring at enough of their portraits I guess, but I love how they look like strings of beads. Awesome capture, and super sharp.

Thanks for looking and the comments everyone! I got to work on this little guy for over an hour and got some more of it that I'll post a few when I get them processed...I'm still culling them....about 200 to check
