With a tripod none-the-less either, Carrie. It's all about those ninja skills.

The detail in the eyes of the first photo is super! I didn't know you had a tripod...

I know, Jim... lol

I just figure I better get use to shooting with one, so when the time comes I have to use one, I'll already have the techniques down to a science. On the flip side, it is easier to haul around my setup when its on a tripod.

First one is a knockout. As far as a tripod, I dont use one, it gets in the way of my cussing practice when I cant get the shot I want.LOL : )

Heck I've been using one so long that can't HH a camera any more...it don't feel right. I've got a real light tripod ( Gitzo 1227 CF) and ballhead (BH-3) setup so that makes things a lot easier to work with, but I confess I miss some shots because of it, but I get a few too and that always makes me happy.

Ohhhhhhhh, CF! Nice! I'd love to get one of those, but my Wife ... well, you know. I'm using a inexpensive manfrotto setup. First solid tripod investment I've ever made. Already managed to fark up the grip pad on the head. I had to get some krazy glue and put it back together.

Thanks James. I don't normally use a tripod, but I am noticing that after hour three, when I tend to start getting a bit shaky HH my setup, I don't have to worry about it with the tripod. Also, yesterday I didn't miss out on much in the way of shots. The only problem I had was the constant tightening, and loosing of the screws to get the pod in the position I needed it in.

You can get an ideal how small it is in my avatar ...ol' Billy Moore shot me shooting a thistle with my ol' 105 the last time he was down at BBSP. I've got some foam pipe insulation on the top legs so I can carry it over my shoulder without pain when I'm hiking around BBSP. I also added a short post so I could go all the way to the ground with it to shoot damsels and flowers on the ground.

Foam pipe insulation on the top legs... That's a jam up idea! My shoulder was a bit raw after carrying it around for six hours the other day.
