Old butterfly - 08-25-2011, 08:37 AM

Critique: NC:

Since the heat is keeping me inside I'm culling some old files and found this old one of a Gulf Fritillary ...This is one I shot back in November '08 at Brazos Bend in the prairie. Made with Nikkor AF 105/2.8D f/11 @ 1/15 sec. on a tripod in natural light. It was about three inches off the ground and I was on my flat on my belly to shoot it when a group of ladies came by...they thought I was hurt and couldn't get up. I showed them the butterfly and then they thought I was just crazy...I told them that it helps sometimes.

Hahaha. I think the story makes the picture, even though the picture is awesome enough to stand on its own.

Thanks y'all! I'm always crawling around on the ground out there and the people that walk up on me are always surprised that I'm shooting photos of either flowers or bugs...heck I don't see anything wrong with it at all...

I'm actually using a Tamron AF 180 now and really like it too because of the extra working distance...but I'm not sellin' the ol' 105 anytime soon...
