Man, I have a long learning curve ahead with this combo. I had to take the brand new R1C1 Macro Flash off since I didn't know what I was doing and couldn't read the Korean manual and used built in flash instead (figuered the macro flash out later). Not much on the first day, pretty windy and cool. But found this lil guy. Shot with my brand spankn new Nikon D700 w/grip and 105mm 2.8VR. ISO 1000 (handles high ISO nicely), f/22, 1/125s, built in flash -1.0EV. This combo is heavy but feels great, need to remember my monopod next time.lol Not bad for the first time and just shooting for luck. As usual, I do promise to read the manual soon. Oh, I did misbehave and got the Nikon 24-70 2.8G ED also. : )
PS: I know pic two and three is a bit of a distraction with the tiny Daisy blocking part of its wing but, thats what nature gave me along with the dark background.

I just picked up the D700 as well. Mine was used with 800 clicks. Bought it from a guy in Austin that purchased the camera for Christmas right after Nikon released it. Never used it! Go figure. His loss my gain!

Good Shot! Beautiful Colors!.....

Nice, James. You even got some aphids in the first frame. The R1C1 does take some work to get it right. A tip: diffuse the light and put one lite at 10 and the other at 2:30-ish. It's easy to adjust FEC(flash exposure compensation) on the SU-800.

BTW, you can download a non-printable English manual PDF from the NikonUSA.com site; at least, you could at one time.

The good light be with you. If not, use flash! Kenny

Well, looks like you're headed in the right direction. I'll have to see these on a screen rather than the iPhone.
