Devil Beetle - 10-15-2011, 12:50 AM

Critique: CC:

Mother Nature has not been cooperating lately so I can play with my new toys much. But I got this freaky lil thing a couple or three weeks ago with my lil D5100 and 18-55 kit lens. Its body is only about an inch long and its antenae are shaped like horns. If the Devil were a Beetle, this would be it. : )
Oh, I found the display calibration feature on my laptop; apparently my images have been darker than intended and I didn't know it. All better now. : )

Wow, never seen anything like him! Very nice photos, and a good catch amongst all the debris.

That's a pretty gnarly beast of a bug. Send me one, please!

Did pretty good for the gear you used.

Must admit that is one strange looking bug. Never seen one before that I recall. Nice catch.

Looks like a cottonwood borer but not the coloration that I am used to seeing.

Definitely an ugly critter, James - I like the second image perspective.

Unfortunately there was some compression loss when I uploaded them. They are a lot sharper on my computer.
