They are the tops of toothpicks, ones with the rounded butt end

You know oddly enough,I thought about that because there is one to the left and down from center that shows a split that looked like wood but the color throwed me a ringer.

Haha - I was thinking toothpicks too, but wasn't sure. At first it sorta looked like a pile of logs, but then I was trying to think of something small that could look like logs. Toothpicks seemed like the right size - but I'm used to the ones that are pointy on both ends so it still looked kinda weird.

Shish-kabob sticks would have been my guess, but I thought they should have looked bigger in a macro shot.
