Ok, here goes. Had some trouble with my last post with loss of sharpness. Think I have it worked out. Got these guys when it finally cleared up but, was still windy. Shot with a Nikon D5100 and Nikon 105 2.8VR and R1C1 Macro Flash.
PS: The lil flower is only about an inch wide and of course the lil Daisyfly is smaller. I dont know what else to call it, so thats the name I gave it. See them quite often on lil flowers like this. Enjoy. : )

I like how you've started bragging about your setup every time you post. (You suck )
Very nice images, and I'm having a problem with picking a favorite because I like them all for different reasons. #1 has great eye detail, #2 great wing detail, and love #3 with the aphid things
Very nice set, and looks like you didn't lose any image quality this time.

thanks, | Just the two ring flash lights with the supplied difussers worked like a champ even for a rookie like me. I have no experience with flash at all and was completley surprised how easy the Nikon R1C1 flash made the experience.

The light looks good, James. Second frame is, by far, your best shot here. If I get one out of three keepers like this, I consider it a good day. FYI, it's a syrphid fly, aka, hoverfly. Lots of variability within the species and they're plentiful.

The good light be with you. If not, use flash! Kenny

Thanks Kenny, I hope you dont mind my taking that as a compliment from one who has never shot from gear like this. I just imagined based upon what I shot from other cameras and gear and adjusted fire as we call it in the Army to come up with what I had hoped what something descent.LOL I can only go from here and hope to equal you and my fellow macro shooters here. Not to compete, just to enjoy. I sincerely enjoy your fellowship.

I see you're putting that gear to some fine use. I really like the composition of #1 and the eyes in #2.

Very nice images, James - sharp, good/rich color. My only nit is composition -the subject of the images appears to be too centered in the frame. | | | |

AMEN, photography is not a secret.... but some photographers think so, Doh!
later..... | I used the SU800 and luck was with me for the first time. From that fortunatley I learned how to adjust fire. It was extreme fortunate circumstance that Nikon makes it easy to take the knowlege of ISO, shutter speed and AP to gleen what is needed for an exceptional pic.
