You'd be amazed how many green darners and other dragonflies make their way onto my rig. Most of them hitch rides on the boats that bring out cargo to the rig. My avatar, for instance, is a green darner that I found out on the rig. Thing is, there's little to no food out there for them. Most usually survive a day, if that.
