Horned Grasshopper - 11-15-2011, 06:20 AM

Critique: CC:

Almost forgot about this freaky lil guy I got a couple o months ago. Never have seen a Grasshopper with horns. South Korea has some interesting lil critters. Shot with just a lil D5100 and 18-55 VR kit lens. Enjoy something from the other side of the world. : ) My heart is still in TX though.

The first shot is kinda tough to see the Grasshopper. I took my eye off of it in the grass for a second and lost it. Found it again of course after some looking.

Nice series, and I like the first one because it shows how well his camouflage is working. On the last one his rear end is clipped a little, but I'm sure you realize that. Thanks for sharing the strange little bug!

Interesting critter, James. Can't recall ever seeing one of these here.

I like the second image of the interesting critter - sharp, good lighting. Nice work, James.

Nice captures, Mr. James, but I do believe it is in the Long-headed Toothpick Grasshopper (Achurum carinatum) family which is a sub of the Family Acrididae - Short-horned Grasshoppers

Love that first shot because of the way he blends in. I almost couldn't find him. First time I ever saw one. Thanks
