Malachite & Azurite - 12-06-2011, 01:29 PM

Critique: CC:

I came from a family with a geologist and married one, so rocks are abundant around the house. Still in the learning phase with the new macro, but I was happy with this one.

Azurite and malachite are often found together, as both are copper carbonates. We have another chunk of malachite I shot yesterday that I'll post later if the shots come out.

My wife has a friend who goes to Brazil a couple of times a year. While there, he raids a mineral dealer and ships back literally tons of minerals in an intermodal container. This piece is about 5x3 inches and is natural.
