What is the name of this weed? - 02-06-2012, 02:04 PM

Critique: CC:

Princess and I have searched the internet for the past several days trying to find an ID for this plant.

It is growing wild in our yard. It stands about 2 inches tall and the flower is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch across.

Does anyone know what it is?

I have Rain Lillies all over my yard, but yours looks slightly different. Need to do a bit of searching. Nice photo.

Jim, It may be in the lilly family, but I can't find a rain-lilly that looks like this.

John, Jim, thanks for the compliment

Thanks for everyone's help trying to identify this plant.

My reversing ring came in today so I'll go back out and get some more views of this thing tomorrow.

Can't wait to see what you get...
There are 800 species in this family of plants it would be hard to pinpoint the this is... I've seen several different colors of them in a small field and I just group them all as rain lilies...

Maybe this will put the weed/flower-let into context. It's what I should have done in the first place.

My yard is greener with the weeds than it was with grass all summer. I need to mow but then I will remove a lot of photo ops.

We've had a little rain almost every week for the past several weeks. In fact it rained this morning, so I'm just now getting this picture.

I appreciate everyone's help with this.
